Steak & Pierogi

Wow. Michelle and I made pierogi and steaks last night. It was quite possibly the best meal we’ve ever made. The pierogi, which are filled dumplings that look like pot stickers - but are definitely not pot stickers, were fantastic; we made the dough from scratch as well as the filling, boiled them, and finished them off with quick fry in a saute pan. We also had steaks with a fantastic chipotle, mushroom, gorgonzola cheese, and cream sauce.

Seriously, we were a little heartbroken when we finished them all.

Look. Here is the deal.

While it appears that you paid appropriate homage to this fine food, the Wikipedia link to “pierogi” raises doubt where there should be none. Pierogi are POLISH. Poland’s neighbors may try to put their greedy paws on claiming pierogi as their own, but let me assure you — they are badly mistaken. Indeed, the country that gave the world a heliocentric view of the universe and broke the back of the Soviet Empire (yes, a “thank you” would be appropriate right about here) also, and not surprisingly, created the perfect food found in the doughy hot-pocket of the pierog (singular of pierogi, you Heathens).

Now that the record is clear, let me congratulate you on becoming a Pierogi Padawan.
