Music
Here you will find a list of music I have recorded.
I have been in two bands. Well, more like 1 1/2 bands. Originally, I formed a band with my brother Erik called Wounded Pride. It was a total blast and Erik and I teamed up with a singer/lyricist, Jon Schauble. Jon remains one of the most talented lyricists I’ve known, and some of the songs I’m most proud of musically were written with Jon. Erik and I had a vision for a hard-edged Grunge band with a blues base. We eventually found a great drummer, Chris Koshiol - currently of the Good Commies - and Paul Nowatski, my lifelong friend played bass. We named the band Wounded Pride after a song that was written by Jon and I. Wounded Pride ultimately recorded a self-funded album called Wounded Pride. Sadly, differences over musical direction caused Erik to leave the band and the album doesn’t reflect our sound at the time very accurately.
The three of us who remained in the band afterwards renamed ourselves Three Options and succeeded in playing around Minneapolis for several years. Paul later moved to Cali to earn his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Three Options took on Scott Anderson as bassist. This was a great collaboration, and we wrote several songs together. After Scott left the band to move to Atlanta, Peter Cisewski joined up for a while until I ultimately moved to North Carolina and Three Options ceased to exist.
Here are some samples of the music recorded over the years.
Three Options
These tracks were recorded with Scott on bass in Koshiol’s basement:
Moonpatrol:
Koshiolface:
This track was recorded with Paul on bass, just before he left for CalTech. We’re still planning on finishing this album, but this is currently the only even semi-finished song from the planned Three Options follow-up, Just Say When:
Time:
Wounded Pride/Milk
This is the album we recorded as Wounded Pride. After we lost Erik, we renamed ourselves Three Options and had to doctor the cover art in order to have the album make sense.
Eye of the Storm:
More or Less Dreams (MOLD):
Milk:
Between:
Blinded:
Schauble’s Dream:
Forgotten Song:
Wounded Pride:
Old Man:
And I:
Milk (reprise):
Wounded Pride
These tracks were recorded as a demo tape. The recording is live, all in one take in our practice studio in St. Paul, MN. If you can get past the rough sound on the recording and the muddy sound, this is actually a much more faithful recording of our sound than the later-recorded Wounded Pride.
Old Man:
Wounded Pride:
Schauble’s Dream:
Beast:
Sweet site Frank. I am excited to hear the last four tracks. Maybe I can clean them up a bit! Hope we can finish the Just Say When stuff before we hit the 10 year mark.
I just ran into this sight because I googled my son’s name. Holy cow, I saw his name and found your website. I listened to Schauble’s dream and I thought I remembered that song. The song is catchy and I like it. Right away I called Jonathan in San Diego and told him what I found. He said ‘ya ,those were friends from the cities.’ How cool. I was surprised to find this on the internet. Cool web-site. Good luck to you.
@Edith:
Great to have you at the site! Erik and I had lots and lots of fun playing with Jon. In fact, we’ve been planning a reunion for some time now…
